Halloween Party (Four-Year-Old-Style) November 1, 2010
Posted by Emily in : Holidays, Photography, Princess Hannah , 2commentsLast week, I threw a Halloween party for Hannah and a few of her friends. She anxiously waited by the window before her party as her friends trickled in . . .

I dare say the anticipation of “who’s coming next?” was just as exciting the crafts and games I had planned!

She was such an excited little host, she ran out to each friend and ran into the house with them. :)

I cannot take credit for the cute crafts we made. I found these ideas on the blog, One Charming Party. She has so many cute ideas! I incorporated the ideas that looked fairly simple for my sake and the kids! (Thanks Kira for the link!)

At the end of the party, the girls had a little photo shoot with me. By little, I mean it was like five minutes, TOPS. The picture above is really how most photo shoots look before you start shooting.

Then, after you organize a bit, you push the shutter, it looks like this.
I hope you all had a fun Halloween weekend!
The Costume October 27, 2010
Posted by Emily in : Holidays, Little Man Dallin, Photography, Princess Hannah , 3commentsThis is Hannah’s Halloween costume.
I specifically bought her a costume that she would wear everyday. (That’s how we post medical school people roll. We’re just so practical now!)
Lucky for Hannah, she gets to wear it FOUR times this week:
- Once to ballet (all the kids in her class will be dressed up)
- Once to her Halloween party (I’m throwing a Halloween party for her and few of her four year old friends)
- Once to another Halloween party
- And once more on Halloween night.

I know she will have no problem wearing this all week because she already wears a leotard, tights and wings (one of her sets anyway) everyday.
I’m just hoping Dallin will wear his costume for 30 seconds so I can take of picture of him in it. (You know, there’s nothing better than photographing something that never really happened.)
Coloring Easter Eggs 2010 March 30, 2010
Posted by Emily in : Family, Holidays, Parenthood, Princess Hannah , 3commentsThe Easter Bunny arrived a week early for our family. (I know, it probably sounds lame, but let me explain . . . I was on Spring Break this last week, which meant I had ZERO projects to work on over the weekend. I didn’t have any extra shoots scheduled either, so that meant I had the WHOLE WEEKEND to spend with my family! Also, since next week is our church’s General Conference, I wanted Hannah to get her Easter dress early so she would have a chance to wear it before Easter. See, not so lame after all, right?)
Over the weekend, the kids woke up to Easter baskets (pails at our house this year) with fun goodies. We kicked off our festivities by coloring eggs. We tired both brown and white eggs to see which ones gave a better color. You’ll have to take a look and decide for yourself. :)

She’s an expert.

The white colored egg is on the left, and the brown colored egg on the right.

Again, the white is on the left, and the brown is on the right. Which one do you like better?

Happy Easter everyone!
Easter Egg Hunt 2010 March 29, 2010
Posted by Emily in : Holidays, Little Man Dallin, Princess Hannah , 3commentsHello internet. It’s nice to be connected again. It’s amazing how much I miss you, especially when you disappear for more than 24 hours with no explanation.
Now, on to the Easter festivities:

This was Dallin’s first Easter Egg hunt. He has no idea what he’s doing, but he likes his pail.

Hannah had to stop after picking up her first egg to check out the contents. No use continuing if the prizes in the eggs are lame.
Dallin caught on, and decided to peek in the eggs himself.
He dropped everything for a pink peep . . .

He’s out of the game. He simply cannot continue to hunt while eating his treat!

“Hey look Guys! Every egg has stuff in it!”

“Do you want some of my eggs?”

“Take me up on my offer now because after I turn two, I’ll figure out how NOT TO SHARE and next year you will be wishing you took advantage of my generosity!”
Happy Belated V-Day February 16, 2010

I hope your kids got roughed up a bit and loved every second of it.
Caramelized Cheetos December 29, 2009
Posted by Emily in : Christmas, Holidays, Memory Lane, Thoughts , 2commentsHave you ever tried caramelized Cheetos?
They are DELISH! I was introduced to them about five years ago, and FELL IN LOVE with them the second they hit my tongue.
I had not thought about them since the day I ate them a few years ago, and suddenly, I remembered them and I had to make them!
So, there I found myself, entering the automatic doors of my local Walmart, on Christmas Eve.
It was worth it. Squeezing through Crazy shoppers and all to get what I needed to make this recipe.

Never tried them? Never made them? Get the recipe here. Trust me, YOU’LL LOVE THEM!
Yes, I Would Like Some Cheese With This “Whine” December 14, 2009
Posted by Emily in : Daily Life, Holidays, My Handsome Husband, Thoughts, Utah , 4commentsIt has been snowing buckets of sleet here in Utah. Every shovel full of snow weighs like 50 pounds.
I don’t know that personally, but I have very reliable sources. (Should I feel guilty that I don’t know this info first hand? No? OK.)

I really do think this valley is beautiful covered in snow, especially around Christmas time, BUT . . .
What ever happened to DRY POWDER snow? The Utah snow famously known as “The Greatest Snow on Earth?” Besides the Osmonds, what else is Utah famous for?

To top it off, David left yesterday and will be gone for some of the week for residency interviews. I’m happy he has interviews lined up, but sometimes I feel like, “CAN’T EVERYTHING COME TO US FOR ONCE?”
That would be so convenient.
Selfish. I know. But we just got him back after being apart for five weeks.
Did you want me to whine a little more?
Because if I thought really hard I could probably conjure up a few more things.
Blah, Blah, Blah. November 23, 2009
Posted by Emily in : Family, Holidays, My Handsome Husband, Photography, Princess Hannah, Thoughts, Utah , 4commentsI’ve been feeling rather blah lately.
It could be because I’m up to my eyeballs in my Photoshop class and it’s sucking every last drop of creative juice out of my body.
It could be my temporary role as “single parent” that is just doing me in as well.
It could also be that part of my heart is on the other side of the continent. What am I supposed to write about when my life feels so incomplete? So alone? So not the same?
I’ve been missing my husband who has been in North Carolina for the last few weeks.
UGH. I really hate being apart. Now don’t worry, I’m not going to get all sappy on you . . . I do not enjoy reading posts when women proclaim their undying love for their spouse. It’s like, TELL THEM NOT ME! Most of the time it’s just TOO MUCH INFORMATION and I feel like a peeping Tom eavesdropping on a private love conversation. There is a 100% chance I don’t feel the same way about your spouse (which is a good thing!) and it just grosses me out.
Phew. It felt good to get that off my chest.
Just know that I miss my man.
A lot.
He is the reason I started this blog.
Ahem. It’s more like, he set this blog up for me and said, “WRITE WOMAN!” (Maybe it was his secret attempt to get me to talk other people’s ears off instead of his so he could spend more time studying . . . OK, that’s probably not his motivation but you know . . .)
He also encouraged me (read: enrolled me at AAU) to pursue my passion for photography.
He solves my technical problems, re-installs my computer programs, and he calmly suggests logical answers to my “I think I’m going to die!” problems. Why is it that last week I was rear-ended, our clutch went out, a loose muffler hit my windshield at 70 mph, and my desktop computer contracted some virus that overtook my entire hard drive all within a few days?
UGH. It was so inconvenient to take care of these things. This is totally a “David” thing to take care issues like this. I’m the CEO of the inside of the house (decorating, grocery shopping, buying clothes, and deciding where every piece of furniture is set and where every frame is hung) and he is the CEO of the outside and electronics which obviously includes car and computer issues.
So, what I’m saying is . . .
I can’t think straight and I’m sad that he doesn’t get to see our cute little kids.
The only benefit of David being gone is that I get 100% of the kid snuggles.
Yep. That’s about the only benefit.
On the flip side, I am on on full time Dallin diaper duty (which is a challenge at every change because the busy boy literally needs to be pinned down!) and I get to listen to Hannah ask, “WHY?” 846 times a day and I get to think of obscure answers. (Trust me, the kid doesn’t take “I don’t know” for an answer.)
I am on the countdown for his return at the end of this week. The Webcam will just have to do for a few more days.
When he returns, my groove will be back and I’ll be posting lots of adventures from Utah.

I have lots of fun Christmas activities planned to do as a family and, of course, lots of pictures to take.
Waiting to get my groove back . . .
Too Beautiful Not to Share November 10, 2009
Posted by Emily in : Church, Holidays, Photography, Utah , 6commentsThis is what the Timpanogos Temple looked like on Halloween night.

The moon was full.
The lights reflecting on Utah lake were beautiful.
As always, the temple looked amazing.
This night was too beautiful to keep to myself, so I thought I’d share.
Disguised Little People November 2, 2009
Posted by Emily in : Family, Holidays, Princess Hannah , 5commentsSay hello to the junior Dr. Lesher.

He is a handsome little heart breaker who didn’t care about collecting candy.
Hannah on the other hand . . .

Turned into a pumpkin on Halloween and really, really liked collecting candy as much as answering the door and handing out her own candy.
We spent Halloween at my oldest brother’s house. (He’s the guy holding the camcorder and his son is the ghost in the picture.)

Hannah took one look at my brother and said, “Uncle Brad, you’re so cute!” And then she leaned over and kissed his cheek.
LIKE HE WAS THREE AND NOT IN HIS LATE 40′s.
That kid knows how to wrap everyone around her little finger.
Hope everyone had a fun Halloween!
Don’t steal too much of your kids candy! (I would never do that you know . . .)
