She Said What?! November 30, 2010

Posted by Emily in : Princess Hannah , add a comment

It’s time for another installment of:

“She Said What!?!”

It’s no secret Hannah keeps us on our toes and everyday says something that makes us think, “Holy cow!  This is our child!?  Where did she come up with this?!”

“Daddy you are the cutest one in our family.”

“I’m just a dirty looker!”  (Looking for dirty spots on the floor to wipe up with a wet wipe.)

“I saw my mom and dad snuggling in bed and they looked so cute!”   (Relayed to us by Grandma)

“Come on!  We don’t have time for that!”  (Rushing Dallin along)

“Mommy, where did you get such a beautiful singing voice?”

“Mom!  Don’t stop singing!  This song is more beautiful when you sing all the words!”  (It’s nice to have a fan club)

“Isn’t Dallin just so cute?”

“Please help Emme to walk, and talk, and not throw her toys, just play with them.”  (Overheard during her nightly prayers)

“Please help my mom and dad to not be so mad at me anymore and to just talk nice.”  (Also overheard during her nightly prayers.  EEK!  Talk about breaking my heart!)

“You guys went out on a date so you’re only supposed to talk nice!”  (Ahem . . . maybe she got in trouble a couple of days in a row . . .)

“Mom.  Dad.  You guys need to go out on more dates.”  (Interpretation: we need to not get frustrated with her.  EVER.)

“I don’t want to get married!  It’s soooo much work and then you have to have a baby!”  (She literally said this out of the blue while driving in the car the other day!)

“This blizzard was SUCH a DISAPPOINTMENT.”  (Said as she threw open our blinds to declare the weather for the day.)

“Thank you for my little sister that hasn’t been born yet.”  (Overheard during her nightly prayer.  This is not an announcement.  There is no little sister now, or in the near future, unless she prays one here, and trust me, it would be a BIG surprise to ALL OF US.)

“Bless our house that it will never catch on fire.”  (Nightly prayers)

And for a couple of conversations:

Hannah:  Dallin, I love you so much.

Dallin: I love you too Hannah.  (And then I melted.)

Hannah:  Daddy?  How are sweaters made?

Daddy:  Why do you ask?

Hannah:  Because I was just thinking about it and I don’t know how they are made.  (Um, good point.)

And to top things off, she LOVES www.sproutonline.com almost as much as she loves her lovey, Pooh Bear.  We love it too because it is catered to pre-school kids and they can easily navigate the site without adult help.  (Unlike www.barbie.com which requires an adult most of the time to read instructions, etc.)  This little girl now has her own account on the computer and can get to her favorite websites on her own.  We also taught her how to print, and seriously, every time she’s on the computer we hear the printer printing something (art work, things to color, etc) and we’re like, AGAIN!?  We had to have a little chat about how many pages she can print a day.  Hannah sort of thought ink never depleted, and paper never ran out because we never told her . . . until now.

Christmas 2010? Owned. November 29, 2010

We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend.  The food was yummy and I found the BEST recipe for sweet potato pie and sweet potato casserole.  Oh.  My.  If you want to tickle your taste buds, you must check out these recipes!  (Both of these recipes were reviewed by 1,000+ people and received five stars, so you KNOW they’re going to be good!)

There was much hype about the “blizzard of 2010″ that supposedly hit us this last week that didn’t drop even one snow flake.  As you can imagine, it was a big disappointment.  We stocked up on plenty of food, got a great movie, and snuggled up on the couch drinking our hot chocolate waiting for the blizzard that never came.  LAME.

However, it has been as cold as the North Pole around here and snow finally dropped by the inches on Sunday.  Looks like the kids and I will be building snowmen and sledding this week!

(This is the frost on our kitchen window.  Brrrrr!)

I had a fabulous shoot with my friend Pam and her kids over Thanksgiving break as well.  Lots of fun pics to come!

This was a test shot and luckily, I had THREE willing and happy subjects for me to test my lights on.

Also worth mentioning, black Friday was a  big success!  I like to shop.  I LOVE good deals.  Black Friday is one big party with a bunch of strangers who like a good deal just like I do!

I’m feeling like the Holidays are under control so far.  I’m performing in a Christmas program at church where I have to sing a solo and memorize lines!  EEK!  Someone (who is NOT me by the way) has much more faith in my memorization skills, acting ability, and singing voice!

I want to squeeze as much in and still enjoy the Christmas season, so I’ve planned early and spaced things out as much as I can:

The Christmas season is OWNED this year.  :)

Peer Pressure November 22, 2010

Hannah and her cousin were playing dress up this weekend and this little guy didn’t want to be left out.

Remember how he REFUSED to wear a costume on Halloween and he went trick or treating dressed up as an everyday toddler instead?

You can imagine the SHOCK on my face when I walked down stairs and found him like this:

Oh my adorable-ness.  This wasn’t even his Halloween costume this year, (it was Hannah’s last year) but if I had known that all he needed was a little peer pressure to get dressed up, I wold have called their little cousin over weeks ago!

A New Day, A New Hairdo . . . November 21, 2010

I shaved his head.  He trimmed his beard.  This man has sported more looks in the last six months than the previous 10 years.  :)

We were sort of able to trim Dallin’s long locks too (his long curly hair was making little girls jealous) which was a like trying to shear a cat.  (Note to self: Let the hair grow!  Who cares if he looks like a girl!)

Hannah also visited my bathroom salon for a trim.  I even gave her layers.  After her haircut, she asked me, “Mom?  Is daddy going to cut your hair now?”

Ahem.

As talented as David is (and trust me, this man can do anything, he is a Jack of all trades) I’m just a little too particular about my haircuts.  :)

Hello. This is Not Me. November 18, 2010

Hi.  This isn’t me.  I’m not sure if the blond hair gave it away, the extra long legs, or the eight pack, but let me set the record straight, this is not me.

However, this is my good friend Pam (she is a commenter, so now you have a face to place with her name) who is as fun and funny as is she is ripped.

So you know, she’s really, really fun!

She obviously kicks butt (thankfully, not mine!) and works really hard on her, ahem, smile.  :)  I mean ABS!

Pam?  Are you reading this?  :)  I took the liberty to post this kick trash picture of you because you (make the entire mom population look like slackers) give all moms out there hope that you can find your better-than-high-school-body again!

Pam looks amazing (obviously) and I get to photograph her next week when she comes into town!

Did I mention she’s birthed four kids?  Yep.  Her youngest just turned ONE.  Oh my heck, you overachiever!  Go Pam!

OK, and on a the opposite note, have any of you seen the ad for “Mom Jeans” of SNL?  Oh my heck, you will die!  This is the OPPOSITE of what you see above!  Please, do yourself a favor and click here!  http://www.hulu.com/watch/10333/saturday-night-live-mom-jeans

Getting Into the Holiday Spirit! November 17, 2010

I really had no intentions of kicking off the Christmas season so early, but this gingerbread kit caught my eye at the grocery store and that was just the beginning of things to come  . . .

We (meaning mostly me, with some help from Hannah) glued the house together and immediately started decorating it.  I should have read the directions first . . . you’re supposed to wait at least 15 minutes for the icing to dry before decorating.  OOPS!  So big deal, our roof slid apart, whatever.

Somehow, one thing led to another, and within minutes the kid tree was put up.  The kids were so excited about it, I ended up putting up the big tree as well . . .

Come on over!  We are all ready for Christmas!  :)  (Please note Paris peeking out the window.  She is my shadow and where ever I go, she goes.  When she can’t go with me, she stares as long as possible.  She’s such a loyal dog.)

Too Much Cuteness November 15, 2010

Once a semester, we parents get to watch our cute little people dance in their studio.

Every other week we have to peer through a small window to catch of glimpse of their adorable class.

(Hannah is the sixth one down from the left.)

This is too much cuteness at once!

OK, I have NO WORDS FOR THIS.  SHE IS FOUR.  Where did she learn how to dance like this!?

Or this?  This is ALL HER during their “free dance” minute.

Oh.  My.  Heck.

Where did we get her?!

FINALLY!

I can share some exciting news with you!  I had a secret photo shoot a few weeks ago photographing a really, really, cool product!

It launched this week, so I can FINALLY share this with you!

My twin brother, Brian, invented a really cool keyboard and hard case for the iPad which works via Bluetooth.

There are two cases actually.  A hard case as you see in the first three images and a soft case which you see in the bottom two images.

The most exciting part for me is seeing my images on all the techie gadget websites!  Heck, this was talked about in the Wall Street Journal!

To really see this product, you must check out his site www.cruxcase.com!  (Be sure to check out the video!  I had nothing to do with it, it was all CG, but it is good!)

Here are all the exciting places my images are circulating right now:

Did you see the fun shoot I had with my sister-in-law, Angie?

No?  Go check it out on my Salt Lake Photography blog!

While you’re there, check out our after shoot party with Hannah.

She copied all of Angie’s poses!

I love that copy cat.  :)

I don’t know where she gets her bravery.

I would never do this!
