GO! GO! GO! December 16, 2009

I feel a bit disconnected.

Wait, what?  Did you say something?  Because there are 400 other thoughts racing through my head right now and I do not have the capability to listen like a normal person.

The end of this week wraps up one crazy semester for me at AAU.  (Just for the crazy record, I started out the fall semester living in New York, then we moved back to Kansas City, and then we moved to Utah.   TWO OF THE MOVES WERE UNEXPECTED.  Nice, huh?)  And can I just say, that after all my final projects are turned in I will be able to breath a bit easier?

I have some fun projects in the works as well and I’m excited to focus more attention on them as soon as this week is over.

Deep breath . . .

To top off this craziness, David has been in and out, and back again, over and over to the point that it’s even confusing me.  Just last night I ran into some of my cousins (who happen to be deaf) at a concert, (which sounds bizarre after reading the aforementioned bit of info about them) and they were like, “Hey!  Where’s Dave?”

And you know, I was frantically signing apologizing for my sloppy and forgetful speech, while trying to remember State signs and grasping for words. I was like, at this moment, he is in Utah, but he’s only been here for 24 hours because he just got back from Denver, and Cheyenne, and tomorrow he will be in New York, but then he’ll be back, and he should be here for a few weeks, but then I don’t know where he will be and did I mention we’ve had FOUR major moves this year?

And it all comes out like a big run-on sentence like that.  With no breaths.

It is a bit embarrassing to tell our story because we really are gypsy’s.

He is constantly on the move and it is no wonder why this little guy’s favorite word is “GO!”

_DSC9489-edited-1

What do you call a car?  GO.  What do you call a ball?  GO.  What do you call Grandpa?  GO.  What do you call mommy?  GO.

GO.  GO.  GO.

He has YET to say mommy.

He’s working on it.

I think.

Wish my husband luck at his interview in New York!  This is Hannah’s location pick for residency.  She asked TWICE this week when we were moving back to New York.  Along with the rest of his interviews, I REALLY hope they fall in love with my husband!

Well, not fall in love with him because that would be weird . . . but you know . . . I hope they really, really like him and decide they HAVE TO HAVE him for their program.

Yes, I Would Like Some Cheese With This “Whine” December 14, 2009

It has been snowing buckets of sleet here in Utah.  Every shovel full of snow weighs like 50 pounds.

I don’t know that personally, but I have very reliable sources.   (Should I feel guilty that I don’t know this info first hand?  No?  OK.)

_DSC9665-edited-1

I really do think this valley is beautiful covered in snow, especially around Christmas time, BUT . . .

What ever happened to DRY POWDER snow?  The Utah snow famously known as “The Greatest Snow on Earth?”  Besides the Osmonds, what else is Utah famous for?

To top it off, David left yesterday and will be gone for some of the week for residency interviews.  I’m happy he has interviews lined up, but sometimes I feel like, “CAN’T EVERYTHING COME TO US FOR ONCE?”

That would be so convenient.

Selfish.  I know.   But we just got him back after being apart for five weeks.

Did you want me to whine a little more?

Because if I thought really hard I could probably conjure up a few more things.

Skin Secrets December 11, 2009

Dermatologists are the most brilliant doctors.

Why you ask?

Because they have normal office hours (not too early, not too late), rarely have patient emergencies (rarely meaning NEVER), and sometimes they take take long weekends.

AWESOME, RIGHT?

To top it off, the office where David is rotating is just minutes down the street (and when I say minutes, I mean like three).

Basically, we’re seeing a lot of David which just so out of the norm for us.

A few days ago, Hannah stopped asking, “Is my daddy going to be here when I wake up?” (It was sort of a novelty to have David back.)  And starting asking, “When is my daddy coming home for lunch?”

This rotation has spoiled us and I’m afraid we’ll be in for a shock when he starts another rotation.

So far, I’ve learned a few things about skin:

This little nugget of info might just save you lots of money.  ;)

Up next?  I’m hoping to get some insider information on adult breakouts!  What the heck?!  I’m not a teenager anymore!

Nine Days? What Kind of Cruel Punishment is This? December 10, 2009

After fighting a headache that has plagued me for NINE CONSECUTIVE days, I’m feeling quite blah.

Really, I feel nauseous and spent.

My neck has been adjusted four times in hopes of relieving this nasty pain.

It seems to have worked.  (For now anyway.)

I may or may not up to my eyeballs in finals right now and ;) and I might be a teeny bit stressed about some projects I’m working on.

I hope all of you have a healthier, more stress-free weekend than I’m having!

She Swore She’d Never Have Kids, But You Know . . . December 9, 2009

This is my friend Sheri and her husband Matt.

Now, I normally don’t deviate from my standard black and white treatment for images, but honestly, I have to show this first image in color to make a point.

Look at their eyes.

I’m not sure who has the dominant gene here, but I’m sure they’ll find out in a few months when their baby’s eye color reveals itself!

Have you ever seen a couple with such piercing eyes?

WOW.

_DSC9474-edited-1

OK, so back to the regular program . . .

_DSC9474-edited-2

Sheri and Matt just had a baby and since I am in the “good friend/almost family” category with Sheri, I invited myself over to the hospital to see her new baby and then again to her house to take some pics of her darling family.

I don’t think she minded.  :)

Such a beautiful family.

And Sheri swore she’d never have kids . . .

Whatever!  :)

A Little of This and a Little of That December 8, 2009

This weekend I spent time with these guys:

_DSC9346-edited-1

My oldest brother Brad (who is knocking on the door of turning 50 but Hannah still tell him he’s cute) and his family.  We froze our buns off together up American Fork canyon taking family pics.  (More images from this shoot later.)

Remember my friend Sheri who just had a baby?

_DSC9438-edited-1

This weekend I photographed her little family and little fella as well.  Look for newborn pictures soon!

When I wasn’t running around like a crazy woman, David and I found time to attend the “Messiah Sing-In” at the American Fork Tabernacle.  Fortunately, David didn’t give me too many stares as I rotated back and forth singing between Soprano and Alto.  (Just for the record, David can sight read music perfectly and I don’t exactly have this gift.  Let’s just say sight reading the score for the first time in over five years was a little rough for me.  Where are you Lydia?  You know I can’t sight read music and I desperately depend on you to find my notes!)

We also spent time decorating this gingerbread house for Hannah.  This was supposed to be Hannah’s project, but you know what? After five minutes, Hannah mysteriously disappeared.  The novelty of watching a candy house come together was no longer exciting and David and I were like, “What the heck?  Where is Hannah?  Why are we the only ones sitting at this table making her gingerbread house?”

Child projects are so deceiving.  They’re advertised to kids but seriously, we know who ends up doing them.

THE PARENTS.

You’ll be happy to know that shortly after this picture was taken, we started eating it.

We wasted no time in letting it get stale and nasty.

Hope you all had a fun weekend!

Dear Santa . . . December 7, 2009

Posted by Emily in : Christmas, Little Man Dallin, Princess Hannah , 4comments

Oh my goodness . . .

Look at Dallin’s body language.

Am I a bad mother for having him sit on Santa’s lap when he very clearly would rather be doing something else? Anything else.

_DSC9242-edited-1

Look at sweet little Hannah.

She could not be happier telling Santa what she wants for Christmas.

_DSC9238-edited-1

Why do I love this picture so much?  Maybe because Hannah is looking at Santa so lovingly, telling him about all the things on her wish list, while Dallin is dying to jump right off his leg and run away!

_DSC9250-edited-1

Oh my goodness, I can’t get enough!

_DSC9229-edited-1

During the three minutes Hannah sat on Santa’s lap she explained no less than 10 times how she needs a helmet to “keep her safe” when she rides that new bike with a basket she is sure she’ll get.

_DSC9257-edited-1

So innocent.

So sweet.

I hope Santa comes though!

Deep in Thought December 4, 2009

Last night David and I saw the movie “The Blind Side.”

Excellent show.

I’m still thinking about it today.

Want to know what else is on my mind?

This:

Does this disturb anyone else?

I’m all about letting my darling little girl dress up, but isn’t this a little much?

Do your feet hurt like mine do just by looking at these images?

Let’s hope Suri Cruise doesn’t fall victim to back problems when she’s older because her parents valued fashionable shoes over practical ones.

My Womb-Mate December 3, 2009

Posted by Emily in : Family, Photography, Thoughts , 6comments

This is my twin.

My other half.  As in literally, my womb-mate.

I swear, when he puts on a brown wig with curly hair, you can’t tell us apart.  ;)

He is MUCH more fashionable than I am.  See the pics below?  He didn’t know I was going to photograph him.  This is how he normally dresses.  (You see, he doesn’t have a wife or kids yet, so that explains a lot, right?)  I guarantee I would be in yoga pants and a t-shirt with ZERO make up on had our situation been flipped and he surprised me saying, “Hey, let me take your picture!”

_DSC9030-EDITED-1

So, this is my twin, Brian.  He is 10 minutes older than I am.

_DSC9036-edited-2

Please, please, please, tell me I look younger!  (It would really make me feel better about all those times I slathered up in 50 SPF while he sunbathed!)

_DSC9044-edited-1

He’s still on the lookout for Mrs. Right.

Any suggestions? ;)

Beautified December 2, 2009

David is back!

To celebrate, Hannah and I went to the salon.

Our hair needed attention.

BAD.

_DSC9157-edited-1

Hannah loved every second in the beauty salon.

_DSC9141-edited-1

More than one person compared her to Shirley Temple.

That would be 57 times this year that she has been compared to Shirley.  (Who, is 81 years old now.)

_DSC9153-edited-1

_DSC9202-edited-1

Now that we’ve been beautified, we can focus on other things, like spending time with David.

Did I mention he’s doing a dermatology rotation right now?

It is fantastic.

Why you ask?

Because dermatologists have fantastic hours, and no one ever has an emergency.

Well, like a REAL emergency.  (“I woke up with acne!”  is not considered an emergency . . .)

Plus, it will be nice to have a skin expert around.  :)
