A Royal Welcome June 22, 2009
Posted by Emily in : Daily Life, My Former Dog Children, Princess Hannah , trackbackHave you been to my house?
Rung my doorbell?
Been greeted by the crew?
Have you ever been given a royal welcome?
No?
Then you need to come.
I promise, my greeters won’t disappoint.

This scene might be lurking behind the door, waiting for you. (The leggings, tutu and ballet slippers are considered “everyday wear” around here.)
But honestly, this is not a realistic scene. Paris is WAY too curious to hold still that long.

I like to think of Paris like a sentinel. Watching over our house. Day and night.

But come on, who am I kidding? The dog bolts at the first sign of trouble. (Trouble meaning another dog barking at her.)

This is actually what happens when the doorbell rings. If you’re new, (0r not) Paris has an unrestrained instinct to run toward you at full speed, jump up and kiss your face, and give you a through “sniff test.”
Makes you just want to come on over A.S.A.P. doesn’t it?

Our “Royal Welcome” consists of 3 dogs (2 rather large) running full speed to the door, jumping up on it and barking like mad. The little one runs even fuller speed and barks even more, ending up with what sounds like a rather painful howling. Mind you, you’re still on the other side of the door! We now see who it is, and if we want to corral the beasties…if we do, you will be asked to wait, patiently, while we try to get them under control and then come back to greet you!!! It’s a lengthy process.
Of course, if we DON’T want to see you (meaning you’re a salesman, or whatever,) we let them jump on the door and bark until you go away!
Makes me kind of wistful for the leggings & tutu days…
Ack! I think I would freak out. But I do like dogs.
I’m in love with the first picture–so cute!!! Your dog is so cool.
