Jessi, I don't know who you are but I'd totally recommend not getting the most basic kit lens. That was the mistake I've made a couple times and the more you get into photography you'll see that good lenses do make a big difference in the quality of the photos. I think its a great hobby, but you still have to go a step further! How about sending some to different orphanages in cold countries, or to hospitals for kids that have cancer and are loosing their hair!! lol thats the social worker inside of me (thats what I am in college for) I also think you should make a profession of your other hobby!
