Reunited and It Feels So Good! March 1, 2009

We’re here!  As I write this, I am sitting on one of our papasan chairs, enjoying heat from the fire in the fireplace, and listening to silence.  The kids are very happily sleeping in their new rooms.  Paris is snuggled up on one of her many pillows placed around the house, and David is enjoying some downtime watching Chuck.

This gives me time to sit.  And think.  And enjoy doing nothing.

Which, I like very much.

The house is great.  It’s much bigger than I anticipated, which is always a nice surprise.  Most of the boxes are unpacked, pictures are on the walls, and window treatments have been hung.  It feels like home.  The basement (which is one HUGE room) is the entertainment hub in our home.  It houses most of the kids toys, our TV, and our office stuff.  It has been a catch-all for all things miscellaneous and office related.  It is currently a mess.

It looks like my basement threw up.

I really hate organizing paper work and other tedious things, so I turned my back to the basement and shut the door to the downstairs.  If I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.  (Just ask David.  If I don’t see him do something, I automatically assume he didn’t do it.  You know, because I didn’t see it.  I’m sort of a crazy wife that way.)  But I know I can’t live in boxes forever, and I can’t keep avoiding that room.

I will post pictures soon.  I don’t exactly have access to them yet.  (So much to do, so little time.  Installing our new hard drive hasn’t happened yet.)

Details.  They are so tedious.

Being reunited with our things has been like Christmas (except, we didn’t spend any money, and nothing was really a surprise, but it’s nice to have things in your size and style!).  I’ve taken many walks down memory lane this week as I discovered scrapbooks, wedding photos, favorite kitchen items, favorite bathroom items (like my three-light 10x magnifying mirror, and foot massage bath!) and my down comforters.  How I LOVE sleeping on my down pillow. with a silk pillow case, and my body pillow. (Which David has named Charlie because he hates that thing and says it feels like a third person is in the bed.  Whatever.  What is wrong if Charlie and I take up 90% of the bed?  Do you see a problem with that?)

One of my favorite finds is my old journals.  You see, before I was a blogger, I was a journal writer.  I am currently reading about my adolescent years.  If I knew you, I mentioned you.  If you are reading this and you knew me between the ages of 15-18, you were mentioned. (That means you Pam, Katie C., Katie T., Tricia, Cami, Anne, Lindsay, and Kerri to name a few that read this)I have been laughing my head off!

So now I will sign off and continue reading about the many adventures of my teen years.  Many adventures that I didn’t remember, until now.

If you don’t keep a journal or blog, start now.  You will thank yourself in 15 years.
