The Binkie is Back January 28, 2009

The binkie is back.

Hannah is very pleasant to reason with, and didn’t throw a big stink when we conveniently lost her dumb binkie last week.  However, she can be devious, and she conveniently failed to mention to us that if we took her binkie away, she would sleep five fewer hours every 24 hour period.

I need my sleep.

I need her to take quality naps.

If sucking on a binkie will buy me five more hours of personal time, SHE CAN HAVE IT.

This is why the dumb thing is back.

When David miraculously found the stupid thing two nights ago and presented it to her, she lit up like it was the greatest gift.  EVER.  It was at this moment that she decided David was her favorite parent.  Period.

On the other hand, Dallin is still sleeping like a champ, and honestly, that is all I ask for.  He too can have  binkie when he is two and half and speaking in full paragraphs, and asking people what their names are, and identifying colors, and singing along to songs on the radio.

I don’t care.  Because if it makes him happy, and he sleeps 100% better with it.  HE CAN HAVE IT TOO.

You are so funny. I love your attitude. Cracks me up.

Getting ride of the binkie or anyother comfort item is VERY hard. But I will say that they eventually do go without it even if it doesn’t happen till age 4. And you are very lucky. At least your childs comfort item isn’t attached to their body. Kind of hard to throw away a thumb….

Ok, so I’m late commenting. Binkies are the blessed curse. Yeah mine got rid of his at 3.5 Peer pressure baby. Having every one of his friends tell him he was too big for a binky. Oh and letting them get so old they fell apart. Oh and trading it for a cool car that came in the mail. It really was the peer pressure.
Now I just need to figure out how to wean my 1.5 year old!!!

Trish, good luck with the weaning! You’re little one has a serious case of “motheritis!”

Have you moved yet? How did it go?
